Buckle Up, Buttercup

Lyrics

🎤 “Buckle Up, Buttercup (Ride With Shakanna)” [Spoken Intro] Hey, baby! Where you headed? Atlanta? South Carolina? Florida? Across the whole USA? Well… let’s talk about that money! Shakanna’s behind the wheel— Buckle up, buttercup! [Chorus] Shakanna, Shakanna, she knows the way, Got you ridin’, got you smilin’, got you on your way! Atlanta inside out, every turn, every light, I’ll be right there if that money is right! South Carolina, Florida sunshine, Pick your destination, we can work out a time! Around the corner or across the USA, Buckle up, buttercup—we’re rollin’ today! [Verse 1] Hop in the car, tell me where you wanna go, I know these Atlanta streets like the songs on the radio. Peachtree here, another Peachtree there, You say, “Which one?” I say, “Baby, where?” Got your suitcase, your coffee, your phone? Going to a meeting or you headed back home? You can watch the buildings, you can pick a tune, Tell me when you need to leave—I’ll see you soon! GPS talkin’, tryin’ to interrupt, I say, “Hold on, girl, let me finish up!” You came for a ride, now you’re laughing with me, That’s the Shakanna special—good company! [Pre-Chorus] Click that belt, get settled in, Another trip, another brand-new friend! Got a long road? That’s all right, We’ll put some good music on for the ride! [Verse 2] South Carolina? Put your bags in the back, Before we leave, did you bring your snack? Check for your charger, check for your keys, Don’t get down the road saying, “Turn around, please!” Got a cousin to visit, got somebody to see, Send the destination, leave the driving to me. Windows full of scenery, playlist full of soul, We can stop for some lunch when your stomach starts to growl! Florida calling, you want sand on your feet? Let’s agree on the fare, then we’re hitting the street. You say, “That’s a long way!” I say, “Yes, indeed— That’s why we discuss what this trip’s gonna need!” Sunshine, palm trees, a weekend away, I can take you there—what you trying to pay? [Post-Chorus / Call and Response] Who knows Atlanta? Shakanna does! Who brought the laughter? Shakanna does! Who’s going to Florida? We just might! What’s the first question? Is that money right? [Verse 3] Now you’re looking out the window, asking, “What’s that place?” I see that little curious look on your face. “Who built that building? What happened down here?” Hold on, baby—that’s a different tier! You booked the ride, now you want the city? Want the stories and the history? Pay a little extra with me! That’s the deluxe tour, let me make it clear, You’ve got a local storyteller sitting right here. I’ll point out the places, put a story with the street, Give a little background to the people that you meet. You say, “One more story!” I say, “Oh, you do?” Let’s add that tour package—then I’ve got you! [Verse 4] You said, “What about Nashville?” I said, “We can discuss.” “Could you take me out to Texas?” Now you’re talking a plus! “California?” Baby, that’s a whole lot of road, We need a real plan before the suitcase gets loaded! If that money is right, I’ll take you across the USA, But we’re making time for rest stops along the way. Mountains out the window, big cities coming through, Every mile a different postcard waiting there for you. You can bring your headphones, you can take a little nap, Wake up saying, “Shakanna, where exactly are we at?” I’ll say, “A little closer than the last time you asked!” Then we’ll both start laughing as another sign goes past. [Bridge — Sung] Some rides take you somewhere new, Some bring you home to the ones who love you. Some start quiet, then the laughter comes through, And the road feels shorter with somebody like you. From a city street to a wide-open view, Tell me where you’re headed—we can talk it through. [Breakdown — Spoken Over Beat] Now listen… The ride is one price. The city history? That’s extra. The stories? Deluxe package! And if you want to go clear across America… Baby, don’t whisper that budget! Let me hear it! [Final Chorus] Shakanna, Shakanna, she knows the way, Got you ridin’, got you smilin’, got you on your way! Atlanta inside out, every turn, every light, I’ll be right there if that money is right! South Carolina, Florida sunshine, Pick your destination, we can work out a time! Around the corner
