Shep's Wild Old Mop

Lyrics

[Verse 1] Shep came down the stairs at eight His comb was bent, his bus was late One side stood up, one side fell flat A bird took one look and changed its hat [Pre-Chorus] His sister said, “Try water and a brush” He tried both—his hair just made a rush [Chorus] Oh, Shep, what happened to your head? It’s doing cartwheels over your bed A tuft to the left, a curl to the right Your hair gets dressed before you’re out of sight Oh, Shep, just grin and let it be That wild old mop’s got personality [Verse 2] At school the teacher paused the class A paper airplane landed in the grass Shep shrugged and laughed, “It’s always been this way” Then wore a paperclip till the end of the day [Pre-Chorus] He borrowed gel from cousin Lee It held for half a second—then broke free [Chorus] Oh, Shep, what happened to your head? It’s doing cartwheels over your bed A tuft to the left, a curl to the right Your hair gets dressed before you’re out of sight Oh, Shep, just grin and let it be That wild old mop’s got personality [Bridge] The barber said, “A trim might help” Shep took one look and ran for help But by the time he reached the gate His hair had beat him there by eight [Final Chorus] Oh, Shep, we love that crooked crown It won’t lie still and it won’t lie down A tuft to the left, a curl to the right The whole room laughs when you walk in sight Oh, Shep, just grin and let it be That wild old mop’s got personality [Outro] Shep waved goodbye, his hair waved too One little curl said, “See you soon!”
