Gasani’s jacks

Lyrics

[Verse 1] Gasani, our home, with the gate painted blue, A kettle that sings when the morning comes through. By the steps and the garden, in boxes and sacks, There’s room for the cousins and all of our jacks. [Pre-Chorus] One by the window, one under the chair, One in the kitchen with a ribbon to wear. You knock at the door and we make room somehow— There’s always a jack finding space with us now. [Chorus] Gasani, our home, come on in, come on through, There’s a place at the table and a seat just for you. Jacks in the hallway, jacks by the tracks, A heart full of welcome at Gasani with jacks. [Verse 2] Auntie keeps count, but the number won’t stay, They turn up at supper, then wander away. We laugh as they gather beside the old clock, A whole little crowd by the sandals and socks. [Bridge] When the rain taps softly on the tin roof above, We pass round the bread and we pass round the love. No matter how many come tumbling in stacks, Our home keeps its door wide for Gasani’s jacks. [Final Chorus] Gasani, our home, come on in, come on through, There’s a place at the table and a seat just for you. Jacks in the hallway, jacks by the tracks, A heart full of welcome at Gasani with jacks. Gasani, our home, let the whole family know, If you’ve got a jack, there’s a place you can go.
