Built from the Floor

Lyrics

[Intro] Yeah Came up the hard way [Verse 1] Rent due, last ten folded in my shoe Cold pizza on the counter, still I knew what I’d do Clock punched, jaw set, took the long way home Had a plan in a notebook and a cracked-up phone They were laughing when I said I’d make a lane Now they call like we were splitting every bit of pain I kept my head down, put the hours in, no bluff If the door stayed locked, I kicked the damn thing shut [Chorus] I’m on the come up, bitch, watch me climb Turned that hard-ass week into overtime No handout, no luck, just grit and a plan Now the whole damn room knows exactly who I am On the come up, still got miles to go Built it from the floor with a heart of stone If you counted me out, better count again I’m up, I’m up—and I ain’t done yet [Verse 2] Same old coat, but the vision got bigger Made a meal out of crumbs, made the small checks quicker Every “no” put a little more steel in my spine Every closed door made me sharpen the design I don’t need your praise, don’t need your fake love I remember who stayed when the funds dried up Now the phone keeps buzzing, but I know what’s real Got my people at the table, got a deal to seal [Chorus] I’m on the come up, bitch, watch me climb Turned that hard-ass week into overtime No handout, no luck, just grit and a plan Now the whole damn room knows exactly who I am On the come up, still got miles to go Built it from the floor with a heart of stone If you counted me out, better count again I’m up, I’m up—and I ain’t done yet [Outro] No shortcut, no savior, no borrowed crown I built this shit from the ground up Still climbing
