Tobie Jumped Over the Moon

Lyrics

[Verse 1] Tobie heard the judge say, “You’re going away,” He packed one sock and a snack for the train. But first he slipped out in his polka-dot briefs, And borrowed a cow from the field by the lane. [Chorus] Tobie went jumping right over the moon, In his underwear, riding a cow. The dog looked up like, “I’m not involved,” But Tobie was laughing too loud to explain how. [Verse 2] They landed at dawn by the courthouse gate, The sheriff said, “Tobie, you’re late for your stay.” Then down the hall came a terrible smell— Tobie pointed at the dog: “He did it, I swear!” [Chorus] Tobie went jumping right over the moon, In his underwear, riding a cow. The dog looked up like, “I’m not involved,” But Tobie was laughing too loud to explain how. [Bridge] The cow got a ticket for parking askew, The dog got a biscuit for making it through. Tobie waved goodbye from his cell-window view, Still blaming that dog—and the moon knew it too. [Final Chorus] Tobie went jumping right over the moon, In his underwear, riding a cow. He landed in jail with a grin and a tune, And blamed it on the dog—who’s denying it now? [Outro] The dog just sighed, the cow mooed, “Goodnight,” And Tobie told the story again by moonlight.
