Deandre’s Coming Home

Lyrics

[Intro] (Soft organ swell, deep bass, gentle tambourine) Yeah... we give thanks today. He brought you through the valley, brother. Look at you now. [Verse 1] White halls, quiet rooms, waiting on the news Sitting by that bedside, praying through the blues Heartbeats on a monitor, counting every line Holding onto hope when we were running out of time The doctors had their answers, but God had the final say Now the sun is breaking through, driving all the dark away [Chorus] Deandre’s coming home today, raise your hands and shout! Walked up out that valley, no more fear or doubt! The storm has finally cleared, the clouds are rolling back Standing on his own two feet, back on the right track! Oh, praise the Name, he made it through the fire! Taking him higher, higher, higher! [Verse 2] Gather round the table, set an extra plate Put the record on, we got a cause to celebrate Every breath is sweeter when you’ve wrestled with the night Every step is lighter when you’re walking in the light Look at that smile returning, look at that strength renewed We’re giving all the glory for the work that’s been pursued [Chorus] Deandre’s coming home today, raise your hands and shout! Walked up out that valley, no more fear or doubt! The storm has finally cleared, the clouds are rolling back Standing on his own two feet, back on the right track! Oh, praise the Name, he made it through the fire! Taking him higher, higher, higher! [Bridge] (Full choir joins, clapping beat) They said hold on—(Hold on!) We held on tight! They said pray on—(Pray on!) Through the darkest night! Now the battle’s won, the heavy weight is gone! A new day has begun! [Chorus] Deandre’s coming home today, raise your hands and shout! Walked up out that valley, no more fear or doubt! The storm has finally cleared, the clouds are rolling back Standing on his own two feet, back on the right track! Oh, praise the Name, he made it through the fire! Taking him higher, higher, higher! [Outro] Welcome home, brother. Yeah, welcome home. (Organ fades out with joyous choir harmonies)
