Magic Carpet Ride

Lyrics

[Verse 1] You found that rug rolled up behind the door Red fringe dragging on the kitchen floor I brushed the dust and the tassels spun Then the whole old room came undone [Pre-Chorus] Hold on tight, don’t lose your shoes The ceiling’s gone and we’re cutting loose [Chorus] Take me up on that magic carpet ride Past the rooftops, let the wind decide With your hand in mine and the whole world wide We’ll sail on a magic carpet ride [Verse 2] We skimmed the river where the ferries sleep Waved at the moon from a mile high deep Your scarf flew off, came circling back Like a little red flag on our flying track [Pre-Chorus] No map needed, no ticket to show Just point that fringe where you want to go [Chorus] Take me up on that magic carpet ride Past the rooftops, let the wind decide With your hand in mine and the whole world wide We’ll sail on a magic carpet ride [Bridge] Over the orchard, over the bay We’ll keep this secret till break of day When morning calls and the kettle sings We’ll fold up the sky with the carpet strings [Instrumental Break] [Final Chorus] Take me up on that magic carpet ride Past the rooftops, let the wind decide With your hand in mine and the whole world wide We’ll sail on a magic carpet ride Take me up, don’t let the moment slide Two laughing hearts on a magic carpet ride [Outro] Back by the doorway, feet on the floor But I swear that rug is ready for more
