What happened to PlayHT?

PlayHT, also known as PlayAI, was a text to speech and voice cloning platform. According to public reports, its team joined Meta in 2025 and the service ended on December 31, 2025. If you relied on it, you need a new tool for scripts, narration, and cloned voices.

Re-creating a cloned voice

Voice clones cannot be moved between services, so you will clone your voice again. Record a short sample in a quiet room, speak naturally, and avoid background music. If the recording is noisy, run it through Enhance first.

Then test the clone on a paragraph from one of your old scripts and compare it with your earlier voiceovers before you regenerate a whole project.

Choosing a new narrator voice

If you used a stock PlayHT voice, generate the same paragraph in two or three Voices AI narrators and listen back to back. Pick the one that fits your content and stick with it, so returning viewers hear a consistent voice.
