A scary voice for every kind of horror

The Demon Lord is deep and gravelly for villain monologues and boss fights. The Reaper is slow and deadpan, so he works for dark comedy as well as dread. Krampus growls through folklore tales and naughty-list warnings, and the Werewolf brings growls and heavy breathing to monster scenes.

For quieter fear, the White Lady is a soft, sorrowful ghost and the Creepy Caretaker is a whispery old man who is far too calm about the noises in the east wing. Granny Hex cackles her way through her recipes, and Zombie Ed is a slow, groaning zombie with a friendly streak.

Writing lines that sound scary

Dread builds in the gaps. Write a calm sentence, a pause, then the detail that makes it wrong: "The house is empty. So who keeps setting the table?" Ellipses and full stops slow the voice down where you want the listener to lean in.

Write the sounds into the text. A drawn-out "Uuuhh..." for Zombie Ed or a "Grrr" for the Werewolf gets you a groan or a growl. Generate a short test, adjust the spelling, then make the full scene.

Horror stories, games, and haunted houses

For a horror story channel or a creepypasta reading, generate the narration in sections and give each character a different voice. For a game or a tabletop session, make each line a separate clip so you can play it at the right moment.

For a haunted house, an escape room, or a Halloween front door, record a few short lines, add wind, creaking, or distant footsteps in your editor, and loop the result. Test the volume in the room where it will play.

Keep the fear fun

Scary clips are entertainment. Only scare people who are in on it, keep anything for children mild, and never use a voice to threaten someone or to make a fake message look real.

FAQ

Is there a free scary voice generator?

Voices AI is free to download on iPhone and Android, and every scary voice sample is free to play. Generating clips uses the credits or subscription in your account; the app shows current plans.

Can I make my own voice sound scary?

Yes. Record yourself or upload a video in the voice changer and pick a scary voice. Speak slowly and quietly for the creepiest result, and avoid background music.

Is this only for Halloween?

No. The scary voices are in the app all year for horror stories, games, creepy TikToks, and haunted house audio. For Halloween ideas and horror movie character voices, see the Halloween voice changer page.

Can the voices growl, groan, or cackle?

Often, yes. Write the sound into your text, like "Grrr" or "Uuuhh...", and generate a short test. Adjust the spelling until it sounds right.

Are the scary voices OK for kids?

That depends on your script. The voices are dark, so keep lines silly and harmless for younger listeners. Zombie Ed and Granny Hex are playful by nature.

Can I talk to a scary character?

Yes. Open Chats and message The Reaper, Granny Hex, or another character, or tap call for a real-time voice conversation. Calls are charged per minute in credits. The characters are AI, so treat what they say as fiction.
