Rub Dirt on it

Lyrics

Rub Some Dirt On It, Mama” An Original Country Song [Verse 1] The alarm went off before the morning sun, You were already working before the day begun. Working your fingers to the bone, making sure we had it all, You were the strongest woman I knew, standing ten feet tall. You never asked for recognition, never wanted any praise, You just kept on giving everything through all those busy days. And when the weekend came around, you’d be right there in the stands, My biggest fan, my biggest cheer, with a heart that never ran out of love. [Verse 2] I can still hear your voice down that old baseball field, Every time I’d hit the ground, you’d tell me how to heal. “Rub some dirt on it!” you’d holler, like it was all I’d ever need, Then you’d be the loudest one cheering when I succeeded. You celebrated every hit, every run, and every play, Even when I struck out, you never turned away. Win or lose, good or bad, you were always standing there, And I knew no matter what happened, Mama would always care. [Chorus] You were my biggest fan, my number one, Cheering louder than the summer sun. Through every scraped-up knee and every victory, You were right there believing in me. You taught me not to quit when life gets tough, To get back up when things get rough. And every time I hear those words, I can still hear you say, “Rub some dirt on it, baby, You’ll be alright someday.” [Verse 3] There were long days working, and nights you stayed awake, Making sure your family had everything it takes. You gave up things you wanted just to give us something more, And never let us see the weight of what you carried through that door. I didn’t understand back then just how much you gave, All the little sacrifices and the strength it took each day. But now that I’m older, I finally see, The greatest example of love was standing right in front of me. [Chorus] You were my biggest fan, my number one, Cheering louder than the summer sun. Through every scraped-up knee and every victory, You were right there believing in me. You taught me not to quit when life gets tough, To get back up when things get rough. And every time I hear those words, I can still hear you say, “Rub some dirt on it, baby, You’ll be alright someday.” [Bridge – Emotional Build] Those bleachers may be empty now, those ballfields may have changed, But I can close my eyes and hear you cheering just the same. And if I could go back to being that little boy again, I’d turn around after every play just to see you smiling then. You weren’t just watching from the sidelines, You were teaching me how to live. You showed me what a mother’s love is, By giving everything you’d give. [Final Chorus – Big Emotional Finish] You were my biggest fan, my number one, The one who loved me through it all. You were there for every home run, And every time I’d fall. You taught me how to be strong, And how to stand up when I’m down. And no matter how old I get, Your voice will always be around. And Mama, if I never said it enough, Thank you for your endless love. For every sacrifice and every prayer, For every time you were standing there. [Outro – Soft Acoustic Guitar] So here’s to the woman who gave it all, Who never missed a game, who never let me fall. My first coach, my biggest fan, The strongest woman I’ll ever know. I love you, Mama… And I’ll always remember… “Rub some dirt on it!”
