Ordinary Days

Lyrics

[Verse 1] You left your jacket on the kitchen chair I keep pretending that you’ll need it there The kettle clicks, the morning takes its time I catch your name between the sips of mine [Pre-Chorus] I say I’m good, I say it clean Then turn around to check the screen [Chorus] I’ve got that feeling when you’re close but gone Like a little half-step I keep leaning on You make a room out of an empty place And I still look for you in every face I’ve got that feeling, hard to put away It follows me through ordinary days [Verse 2] Your old receipt is folded in my coat A corner store, the things we almost bought I pass the window where we missed the train And hear you laughing at the way it rained [Pre-Chorus] I say I’m good, I say it clean Then turn around to check the screen [Chorus] I’ve got that feeling when you’re close but gone Like a little half-step I keep leaning on You make a room out of an empty place And I still look for you in every face I’ve got that feeling, hard to put away It follows me through ordinary days [Bridge] If you came back, I wouldn’t ask you why I’d let the silence settle, let it dry But you’re not here, and that’s the part I know Still, some things leave slow [Final Chorus] I’ve got that feeling when you’re close but gone Like a little half-step I keep leaning on You make a room out of an empty place And I still look for you in every face I’ve got that feeling, hard to put away It follows me through ordinary days [Outro] Ordinary days Still look for you
