Ariella Stinks of Cheese

Lyrics

[Verse 1] Ariella strolls in, midnight on the clock The kitchen's quiet, slippers on the tile She opens up the fridge to take a look And pauses there, considering a while [Pre-Chorus] That little bulb paints gold across the room A secret stage among the jars and greens She checks the note she left beside the milk And laughs at what the household diary means [Chorus] Ariella stinks of cheese, with the fridge light glowing Ariella stinks of cheese, and the whole house knows it One tiny wedge, one grand display She owns the kitchen anyway Ariella stinks of cheese, with the fridge light glowing [Verse 2] A cheddar rind was hiding by the grapes A crumb of brie was clinging to her sleeve She gives a shrug and takes another bite Like royalty who has no need to leave [Pre-Chorus] The shopping list says, “Close the door, please, dear” The butter waits, the pickles hold their pose She waves goodbye to all the midnight snacks Then leaves with cheese dust on her nose [Chorus] Ariella stinks of cheese, with the fridge light glowing Ariella stinks of cheese, and the whole house knows it One tiny wedge, one grand display She owns the kitchen anyway Ariella stinks of cheese, with the fridge light glowing [Bridge] Tomorrow she’ll bring crackers, maybe pears And promise she’ll be neat this time around But when that little bulb turns on again The cheese will call without a sound [Final Chorus] Ariella stinks of cheese, with the fridge light glowing Ariella stinks of cheese, and the whole house knows it One tiny wedge, one grand display She owns the kitchen anyway Ariella stinks of cheese, with the fridge light glowing [Outro] Close the door, let the kitchen sleep Ariella’s got a secret to keep
