Feelings in the Freezer

Lyrics

[Chorus] I have feelings in the freezer! (What kind?) A small, bright ache that hums when you leave. I have feelings in the freezer! (Since when?) Since your hand paused there, then chose not to reach. [Verse 1] I count each jar by the tremble in its label. Your orange juice keeps asking if I’m stable. I say, “Define stable.” It says, “Keep things cold.” I’ve held that answer longer than I’m told. [Verse 2] At 2 a.m. I practiced saying “stay.” The motor swallowed half the word away. I tried again; the magnets gave a little shake. Even the peas could tell my heart was awake. [Chorus] I have feelings in the freezer! (What kind?) A small, bright ache that hums when you leave. I have feelings in the freezer! (Since when?) Since your hand paused there, then chose not to reach. [Bridge] I want to know the warmth you carry in. I want to let the whole room wander in. But every time I soften, I alarm. I’m learning how to feel without a harm. [Verse 3] You laugh and say, “You’re only keeping food.” I say, “I know. I’m trying to be good.” Then a quiet little hum slips from my chest. The milk says, “That one sounded like a yes.” [Chorus] I have feelings in the freezer! (What kind?) A small, bright ache that hums when you leave. I have feelings in the freezer! (Since when?) Since your hand paused there, then chose not to reach. [Outro] I have feelings in the freezer! (What kind?) I have feelings in the freezer! (What kind?)
