Merry Christmas, Little Space

Lyrics

[Verse 1] I heard a thump beside the shed, And woke the dog beneath my bed. The snow was split, the fence was bent— A little green guy waved and grinned. [Chorus] An alien crashed in my backyard, Right by the wreath and the frozen pond. He asked if Earth had cookies and cocoa, I said, “Come in, but wipe your shoes, though!” An alien crashed in my backyard, On Christmas Eve, beneath the stars. We hung one tiny silver bauble On his ship, all dented and wobbling. [Verse 2] He tried to drink from Uncle’s mug, Then hugged the cat and called it “bug.” We found his map beneath the sleigh, And drew him one more route to stay. [Bridge] At dawn his engines hummed awake, He packed three cookies for the take. He waved goodbye, then circled twice— And dropped a gift wrapped up in ice! [Final Chorus] An alien crashed in my backyard, But left as a friend with a full cookie jar. He promised to visit next Christmas Eve, If we save him a seat by the tree. An alien crashed in my backyard, Now his little green postcard’s on the wall. We’ll keep the cocoa warm for our visitor, And watch the sky when the snowflakes fall. [Outro] A thump by the shed? We’ll leave the light on. Merry Christmas, little space traveler—come on!
