Pay the Driver

Lyrics

[Intro] Dispatch says the rate’s good Then the number gets cut [Verse 1] Sun climbs up over the yard by the gate I haul that steel while they haggle my rate Broker on the phone with a smile in his tone Says the load’s worth more than the check I bring home They shave off a fee, then they shave off two Call it “market conditions”—same old excuse My tires eat miles, my clock eats the day They sit at a desk while they pocket the pay [Chorus] Stack those coins, stack those coins While the driver burns fuel and the engine groans Stack those coins, stack those coins We haul the whole load, they skim what’s owed [Verse 2] Broker says “quick pay” but the fine print crawls A week turns long when the invoice stalls I got diesel receipts and a logbook line They got another new fee with a polished design Don’t call me lucky for a run that’s tight I paid for the rig, I paid for the night Every mile has a cost, every load has a name Quit hiding the cut like the driver’s to blame [Chorus] Stack those coins, stack those coins While the driver burns fuel and the engine groans Stack those coins, stack those coins We haul the whole load, they skim what’s owed [Bridge] Show the rate, show the math, let the numbers be clear No mystery deductions disappearing here A fair cut, paid on time—that’s the deal Respect the hands on the wheel [Verse 3] I keep my wheels rolling, keep my papers in line Keep a sharp eye open when they redraw the fine You can dress up a hustle in a suit and a grin But the driver knows exactly where the money went in From the loading dock down to the last state line That freight runs on sweat, not a broker’s design So pay what you promised, let the ledger talk straight We’re done hauling your profit while we carry the weight [Final Chorus] Stack those coins, stack those coins While the driver burns fuel and the engine groans Stack those coins, stack those coins We haul the whole load, now pay what’s owed [Outro] Show the rate Pay the driver
