Rat King Legends

Lyrics

[Intro] Under the old grain mill, where the floorboards groan, A knot of little kings made a kingdom of their own. [Verse 1] Found a crown in a bottle cap, throne in a crate, Six tails tied together by a twist of fate. They took the back alley, made the basement their court, Tin-can trumpet ringing from the drainpipe fort. One had a button coat, one had a bent gold ring, One kept the ledger for the whole rat king thing. No silk, no castle, just crumbs and command, Tiny paws on the map with the whole block planned. [Chorus] Rat king legends, brrr brrr, let it roll, Little crown, big plans, got a grip on the whole. Rat king legends, brrr brrr, hear that call, From the cellar to the curb, they were running it all. [Verse 2] They sent scouts through the market when the shutters came down, Made a bridge from a broomstick, made a moat from a drain. Big cats talked tough, but they watched from the stairs, When the rat king rolled through, even dust paid fares. They split every crumb, kept the peace by decree, No one ate alone in that crooked dynasty. Then the landlord came stomping with a lantern held high, They slipped through the wall where the old pipes lie. [Chorus] Rat king legends, brrr brrr, let it roll, Little crown, big plans, got a grip on the whole. Rat king legends, brrr brrr, hear that call, From the cellar to the curb, they were running it all. [Bridge] One crown, six tails, one code in the dark, Small crew, strong rule, left a mark on the park. When the cellar went quiet, when the dust settled in, You could still hear the council counting crumbs again. [Final Chorus] Rat king legends, brrr brrr, let it roll, Little crown, big plans, got a grip on the whole. Rat king legends, brrr brrr, hear that call, From the cellar to the curb, they were running it all. [Outro] Under the old grain mill, where the floorboards groan, The crown’s still there, but the king’s gone home.
