FaceTime voice changer

Voice changer for FaceTime on Mac

Voices AI Live changes your voice in FaceTime calls on your Mac. Pick a voice, choose the Voices AI microphone in FaceTime, and call friends and family as a cartoon character, a celebrity parody, or Santa. It works with FaceTime on Mac only, not on iPhone or iPad.

Works with FaceTime on Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. iPhone and iPad are not supported. Not affiliated with Apple.

How to use a voice changer with FaceTime

1

Install Voices AI Live

Download the free app for Windows or Mac and accept the virtual microphone install. Restart if your computer asks you to.

2

Pick a voice

Preview the voices in the app, or clone your own from a 5-second recording, and select one.

3

Choose the microphone in FaceTime

Open FaceTime, click Video in the menu bar, and choose Voices AI Virtual Mic under Microphone.

4

Start the call

Call as usual. Switch voices in Voices AI Live at any time during the call.

FaceTime on Mac, not on iPhone

A Mac lets you choose which microphone FaceTime uses, so Voices AI Live can sit in between and convert your voice. iPhone and iPad do not allow apps to change the microphone in calls, so the FaceTime voice changer works on Mac only.

Ideas for FaceTime calls

Surprise the kids with a call from Santa in December, wish a friend happy birthday as a cartoon character, or join a family call as a famous voice for a laugh. Reveal yourself at the end, and keep the joke friendly.

FaceTime voice changer not working? Quick fixes

FaceTime doesn't list the Voices AI microphone

Start Voices AI Live first, then fully quit and reopen FaceTime so it rescans audio devices. Look for CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) on Windows or Voices AI Virtual Mic on Mac. If it is still missing, restart your computer to finish the virtual microphone install.

FaceTime still uses my Mac microphone

Click Video in the FaceTime menu bar and check that Voices AI Virtual Mic is selected under Microphone. Start Voices AI Live before you open FaceTime.

The voice sounds robotic, choppy, or cuts out

Turn off extra noise suppression in the app you are talking in, close GPU-heavy programs you are not using, and check that your computer meets the Voices AI Live system requirements.

Other people hear an echo or their own voice

Use headphones. Speaker audio leaking into your real microphone gets converted and sent back to everyone.
