How to use a voice changer with Telegram

1

Install Voices AI Live

Download the free app for Windows or Mac and accept the virtual microphone install. Restart if your computer asks you to.

2

Pick a voice

Preview the voices in the app, or clone your own from a 5-second recording, and select one.

3

Choose the microphone in Telegram

In Telegram Desktop, open the call settings and choose CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) on Windows or Voices AI Virtual Mic on Mac as the microphone. If you cannot find the setting, make it your system default input.

4

Start the call

Call as usual and switch voices at any time.

Telegram Desktop vs. the Telegram phone app

Telegram Desktop lets you choose which microphone it uses, which is all Voices AI Live needs. Phones do not allow apps to change the microphone in calls, so live voice changing works on the desktop app only.

Voice messages from your phone

For a voice message, record yourself in the Voices AI app on iPhone or Android, convert it into another voice, and share the audio file in your Telegram chat.

Telegram voice changer not working? Quick fixes

Telegram Desktop doesn't list the Voices AI microphone

Start Voices AI Live first, then fully quit and reopen Telegram Desktop so it rescans audio devices. Look for CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) on Windows or Voices AI Virtual Mic on Mac. If it is still missing, restart your computer to finish the virtual microphone install.

My contact hears my normal voice

Telegram is still using your physical microphone. Check the microphone in its call settings, or set the Voices AI microphone as your system default input.

The voice sounds robotic, choppy, or cuts out

Turn off extra noise suppression in the app you are talking in, close GPU-heavy programs you are not using, and check that your computer meets the Voices AI Live system requirements.

Other people hear an echo or their own voice

Use headphones. Speaker audio leaking into your real microphone gets converted and sent back to everyone.

Questions about this setup

Can I change my voice in Telegram on my phone?

Not live. Phone apps cannot change the microphone in calls. Make a voice clip in the Voices AI app and send it as an audio file instead.

Does it work in Telegram group calls?

Yes. Telegram Desktop uses the microphone you selected for all calls.

Is the voice changer free?

Yes. Voices AI Live is free to download and includes free voices. Premium unlocks the rest of the voice library for $9.99/month or $59.99/year.

Does it work with WhatsApp Desktop too?

Yes. Select the Voices AI microphone in any desktop app that lets you choose one.
