PlayStation voice changer

Voice changer for PS5 and PS4 players

PlayStation consoles do not support voice changer apps or virtual microphones, so you cannot change your voice inside PS5 party chat. The reliable workaround is to talk to your friends in Discord on a Windows PC or Mac running Voices AI Live, and play on your PlayStation as usual.

Voices AI Live runs on Windows 10 or later and Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 14 or later, not on PlayStation. It cannot change a headset connected to the console or controller. Not affiliated with Sony Interactive Entertainment.

How to use a voice changer with PlayStation

1

Install Voices AI Live

Download the free app for Windows or Mac and accept the virtual microphone install. Restart if your computer asks you to.

2

Pick a voice

Preview the voices in the app, or clone your own from a 5-second recording, and select one.

3

Join voice chat on your computer

Open Discord on your PC or Mac, set Input Device to CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) on Windows or Voices AI Virtual Mic on Mac, and join your squad's voice channel.

4

Play on your console

Leave PlayStation party chat muted and keep your headset on the computer while you play.

Why PlayStation needs a workaround

PS5 and PS4 party chat only accepts a microphone connected to the console or controller. Voices AI Live creates a virtual microphone on a computer, so the computer has to carry your voice. Discord is the easiest way to do that, because your whole squad can join the same voice channel.

Hearing the game and your friends

With your headset on the computer, listen to the game through your TV or a second pair of earbuds, or use a headset that can mix two audio sources. Test the setup with a friend before a ranked match.

PlayStation voice changer not working? Quick fixes

My friends in PlayStation party chat cannot hear the AI voice

They need to join the same Discord voice channel. Players in PlayStation party chat only hear the console microphone.

Discord doesn't list the Voices AI microphone

Start Voices AI Live first, then fully quit and reopen Discord so it rescans audio devices. Look for CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) on Windows or Voices AI Virtual Mic on Mac. If it is still missing, restart your computer to finish the virtual microphone install.

The voice sounds robotic, choppy, or cuts out

Turn off extra noise suppression in the app you are talking in, close GPU-heavy programs you are not using, and check that your computer meets the Voices AI Live system requirements.

Other people hear an echo or their own voice

Use headphones. Speaker audio leaking into your real microphone gets converted and sent back to everyone.

Questions about this setup

Is there a voice changer for PS5?

Not one that runs on the console. You can use Voices AI Live on a PC or Mac and talk to your friends through Discord while you play on PS5.

Does this work for PS4 too?

Yes. The workaround is the same, because your voice goes through the computer, not the console.

Can I use the PlayStation app on my phone instead?

No. Voices AI Live is a desktop app for Windows and Mac. It cannot change audio in phone apps.

Is the voice changer free?

Yes. Voices AI Live is free to download and includes free voices. Premium unlocks the rest of the voice library for $9.99/month or $59.99/year.

Is Voices AI Live an official PlayStation app?

No. Voices AI is not affiliated with PlayStation. Voices AI Live works as a virtual microphone that you select in your audio settings, the same way you would pick a USB headset.

Is my voice uploaded anywhere?

No. Voice conversion runs locally on your computer. Nothing is recorded or sent to a server; your audio goes straight from Voices AI Live to the app you are using.
