Xbox voice changer

Voice changer for Xbox party chat

Xbox consoles cannot run voice changer apps, but you can still talk to your Xbox friends in an AI voice. Run Voices AI Live on a Windows PC, join the party from the Xbox app on that PC, and play on your console while your voice goes through the computer.

Works through the Xbox app on Windows 10 or later. Voices AI Live does not run on Xbox consoles and cannot change a headset plugged into the controller. Not affiliated with Microsoft or Xbox.

How to use a voice changer with Xbox

1

Install Voices AI Live

Download the free Windows app and accept the virtual microphone install. Restart if Windows asks you to.

2

Pick a voice

Preview the voices in the app, or clone your own from a 5-second recording, and select one.

3

Make it your Windows input

In Windows Settings > System > Sound > Input, choose CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable). If the game has its own microphone setting, select it there too.

4

Join the party from your PC

Open the Xbox app on Windows, join your party, and keep your headset on the PC while you play on the console.

How the Xbox voice changer workaround works

A voice changer needs a computer in the middle: it takes your microphone, converts the voice, and passes it on. Xbox consoles do not allow that, so the PC becomes your voice chat device. Your console plays the game, and your PC carries your converted voice into the same party.

Mute voice chat on the console itself, so friends do not hear both your real voice from the controller headset and the AI voice from your PC.

Using Discord instead of Xbox party chat

If your squad already talks in Discord, join the same voice channel on your PC with the Voices AI microphone selected. It works the same way, and Discord on PC gives you more control over the input device.

Xbox voice changer not working? Quick fixes

The Xbox app doesn't list the Voices AI microphone

Start Voices AI Live first, then fully quit and reopen The Xbox app so it rescans audio devices. Look for CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) on Windows or Voices AI Virtual Mic on Mac. If it is still missing, restart your computer to finish the virtual microphone install.

My party hears my normal voice

The console is still sending audio from the controller headset. Mute chat on the console and talk through the headset connected to your PC.

The voice sounds robotic, choppy, or cuts out

Turn off extra noise suppression in the app you are talking in, close GPU-heavy programs you are not using, and check that your computer meets the Voices AI Live system requirements.

Other people hear an echo or their own voice

Use headphones. Speaker audio leaking into your real microphone gets converted and sent back to everyone.

Questions about this setup

Can I use a voice changer directly on Xbox?

No. Xbox consoles do not support voice changer apps or virtual microphones. The workaround is to talk through a Windows PC running Voices AI Live while you play on the console.

Does it work with Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One?

The console model does not matter, because your voice goes through the PC. You need a Windows 10 or later PC that meets the Voices AI Live requirements.

Is the voice changer free?

Yes. Voices AI Live is free to download and includes free voices. Premium unlocks the rest of the voice library for $9.99/month or $59.99/year.

Does it work in Xbox games on PC?

Yes. PC games see the Voices AI microphone like any other microphone.

Is Voices AI Live an official Xbox app?

No. Voices AI is not affiliated with Xbox. Voices AI Live works as a virtual microphone that you select in your audio settings, the same way you would pick a USB headset.

Is my voice uploaded anywhere?

No. Voice conversion runs locally on your computer. Nothing is recorded or sent to a server; your audio goes straight from Voices AI Live to the app you are using.
